Development of electrical and automation expertise in Lahti region

Target of the project is to improve employment in the electricity and automation sector in Päijät-Häme region. This can

be achieved by improving high-quality education and training in electrical and automation technology skills to meet

modern and future needs and easy adaptation to Päijät-Häme region needs. It is important to increase the different

forms of cooperation and expertise in working life and educational institutions in electrical and automation technology

field. The export industry is an important sector for Finland. Therefore, internationalization and the needs of the export

industry must also be considered during the project.

The measures derived from the project sub-targets are:

Package 1: Development of co-operation and co-ordination of business models

The mapping of the needs in electrical and automation skills is done with the help of a co-operation model between

educational institutions and companies and learning environments implemented in companies for students of different education levels. Educational institutions (LAB and Salpaus) are responsible for the training and its content in the learning environments on the premises of companies.

Package 2: Competence development for employment

In the development of competence, three (3) electrical and automation technology directions are selected, the

competence of which is of considerable benefit to the needs of modern working life and thus also to ensuring

employment.

Package 3: A workshop on the future of electronic transport and logistics

Vocational training requires multi-skills. The mapping of the skills needs will be carried out in such a way that Salpaus organizes future technology workshops for personnel and interested companies on the themes of electronic transport and logistics and intelligent production. The aim is to anticipate future skills needs and to identify key technologies and the resulting professional skills needs in order to improve employment and business conditions.

Package 4: Piloting training products

All training is aimed at company staff as additional training, for the trained unemployed and for students to increase

knowledge of the technology in question with a view to the needs of working life. The unemployed can also carry out training flexibly alongside job search.
