MINT - Municipality-based Innovation and Experiment Ecosystem

Introduction: MINT project is a joint effort between Luumäki, Parikkala, Rautjärvi, Savitaipale and Taipalsaari municipalities, LUT University and LAB University of Applied Sciences. The aim of the project is to create an innovation and experiment ecosystem between municipalities, companies and universities. The project focuses on solving the innovation challenges common to municipalities, businesses and their communities through experimentation and thereby increasing the innovation capacity of SMEs in the municipalities.



Target: The main target of the project is to strengthen the innovation activities of companies in South Karelia municipalities (excluding Lappeenranta and Imatra) by combining the resources of companies, municipalities and universities into a common innovation and experimental ecosystem.



Action: The action focus on addressing the innovation challenges common to municipalities, businesses and their communities, and thereby increasing the innovation capacity of SMEs in the municipalities. Innovation challenges are solved by experimentation methods, which are typically short-lived in experimental environments created by companies, municipalities, customers or universities.



Results: The main result of the project will be a joint innovation and experimental ecosystem that will strengthen the innovation activities of companies operating in South Karelia (excluding Lappeenranta and Imatra) by combining resources of companies, municipalities and universities in a resource efficient way.
