As a global challenge, urbanization and smart city concepts are major themes of development. There is a growing need for multidisciplinary approaches in planning and management of urban environment development processes. This programme invites applicants to work together with practical challenges of the theme of urban sustainability.  The aim of the study programme is to adapt a multidisciplinary knowledge base and development tools supporting sustainability management.  

 The programme is arranged by combining virtual and contact learning. The thesis work is an opportunity to adapt current academic research to practical needs and situations in the sustainable city.  

Education is arranged in intensive weeks 2 - 3 times in autumn and spring. Diversified methods are used in arrangements of the education. An e-learning platform is utilised all the time. There is usually an opportunity to follow the lectures online during contact days and they are also recorded.
